International Crystal company history1950Royden R. Freeland founds International Crystal Manufacturing Company (ICM). and operates in his garage. He soon moved the company to a building in downtown Oklahoma City. One of the first major contracts he obtained was to produce crystals for Collins Radio. Soon, he was making crystals for many other communications companies. ICM also began manufacturing a line oscillators and converters for Ham and experimenter use. The product line grew and, by the late 1950s, included cable TV equipment, frequency meters, CB radios, Ham Radio kits, as well as quartz crystals. 1960sThe ICM line expanded to include microwave ovens, CB radio accessories, and more Ham Radio products. ICM even had a flying showroom that toured the US displaying its products to the public and industry. ICM grew in size and reputation as a leader in the communications industry. 1970sICM continued to expand its frequency control production facilities and the quality of its crystal, oscillator, and filter products by installing some of the first computers to aid in design and production of crystals and equipment. ICM built its own quartz growing facility and expanded its physical plant and number of employees to serve a growing consumer, industrial, and communications market. In 1978, Royden Freeland Sr. and his wife were killed in an airplane crash and the ICM operation was continued with Royden Freeland Jr. taking control of operations. 1980sDuring the 1980s, ICM expanded into new areas. ICM added satellite television, home and commercial video production, pager and two-way radio distribution to our already extensive line of electronics products. 1990sICM sold some of its equipment and distribution business to concentrate on its core crystal and oscillator business. New, state of the art, crystal production equipment was added and new filter, oscillator, and precision crystal products were developed to meet the needs of industry. 2000sICM continues to develop its precision line of crystal products. Our precision crystals include low phase noise, low aging, stress compensated, and specialty holder products to meet the most stringent requirements. Our facility is ISO 9001:2000 certified and capable of manufacturing prototype and production quantities of crystal products in the USA. We also manufacture crystals to meet mil-spec requirements. Today, ICM operates under the same family tradition of manufacturing quality frequency control products combined with great customer service at a competitive price as we did in 1950.
