Step 6 - Calibration
The mounted crystals are then calibrated to final frequency using computer
technology. The wheel is placed into the calibration machine, pictured
above right. The calibration machine checks the frequency of each crystal
and determines how much deviation there is from the desired customer frequency.
The machine then applies precisely the right amount of pure gold to the
crystals to get the precise frequency. The calibration machine can calibrate
a maximum of 50 crystals individually.
